ORLANDO, Fla. — As the largest in-person trade show hosted at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) since the onset of the pandemic, Design and Construction Week, held Feb. 8-10, 2022, left a lasting impact on a local non-profit agency.

There is no doubt that when an event goes the extra mile to make a positive difference in its host community, the impacts can be incredibly meaningful. Case in point: the 9th annual Design & Construction Week (DCW), held at the Orange County Convention Center Feb. 8-10, which generously donated $13,300 in leftover kitchen, bathroom, living room and outdoor items to an Orlando-area nonprofit with support from the venue’s sustainability coordinator.

ORLANDO, Fla.– The importance of having a Kitty or Fido in people’s lives was pronounced during the pandemic, when more than 23 million American households — nearly 1 in 5 nationwide — adopted a pet, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). That same enthusiasm greeted the return of the pet industry’s Global Pet Expo, held this March 23-25 at the Orange County Convention Center, in Orlando, Fla.

An almost-forgotten air of excitement fills the once-empty and echoing grand exhibit hall. Attendees file in, and any lingering silence is quickly replaced by sounds that room hasn’t heard for months: Old friends spot each other and, beaming with warm smiles, go in for a handshake or an elbow bump. “Good to see you!” and “How have you been?” can be heard throughout the crowd, along with plans to grab a cup of coffee or meet for drinks later in the day.
